It is with sadness that we share Marian Donna Maguire (Rock) of Ilderton and Grand Bend, passed away at Parkwood Institute – Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, December 24, 2022, in her 89th year. Marian has now joined her beloved Phil (2017) in their heavenly home.
Marian will be deeply missed by her children Colleen (John) Bice of Niagara on the Lake, and Jim (Marlene) Maguire of Ipperwash. She was loving Grandma of Josh (Erin), Rachel, Megan (Jeff), Katie (Mike) and proud Great Grandma of Eli, Chloe, Bryce, Sadie, Aiden, Brayden, Crew and Scout. She is the cherished sister of Bev (Ron) Tweddle and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Marian was predeceased by her treasured daughter in law, Gail (2007) and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Marian was an excellent cook who loved to host friends and family for meals and share recipes. Baking was also a favourite pastime and she was sure to always have butter tarts, lemon squares and cookies to share. Marian was an avid gardener who shared her expertise as a member of Grand Bend and area Horticultural Society. She and Phil were even granted the Trillium Award. Marian always kept busy with many hobbies: quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles, playing cards but especially loved spending time with family and her many friends. More recently, Marian struggled with mobility but remained fiercely independent and handled her health challenges with grace and determination.
We are so grateful to the many family members, neighbours, friends and staff at University Hospital, Masonville Manor and Parkwood Palliative Care Unit whose care, support and love will always be remembered.
Special thanks to Charlene who was a dedicated companion & support to her aunt.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Thursday, December 29th from 10 – 11 where the funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM. Cremation to follow with interment to take place at Medway Cemetery at a later date.
For those unable to attend in person, the family invite you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh.
Donations to Ailsa Craig Food Bank, Ilderton United Church or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

John & Colleen & family, We will always remember your Mom for the hospitality she so generously offered us while visiting her and your dad in Grand Bend. She did the same for Ryan who was one of a group of 4 or 5 teenagers who crashed there while enjoying a weekend away — thanks to Josh! Marian was an amazing cook who enjoyed entertaining and was always willing to share recipes! (I still have one)
More than that, she was welcoming, had the most beautiful smile (what a classy lady) and was kind! Our most sincere sympathy! You are all in our thoughts and prayers!
