August 25, 1946 – May 15, 2018
Suddenly and unexpectedly, on Tuesday, May 15th 2018 in his 72nd year, of Hensall, Ontario. Loving Father of Tim of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Peter of London, Bryan of Kelowna, British Columbia, and Sarah and Christian Joore of Peterborough. Doting grandfather of Lara McAllister, Isabella and Sophie Joore. Long-time partner and travelling companion of Sue Riley of Hensall. Dear brother of Dale McAllister of Grand Bend. Neil will be missed by his step-mother Evaline Whiting-McAllister of Zurich, and former spouse Susan Doerr-McAllister of Exeter. Predeceased by his parents John W. McAllister (2014) and Alma G. Skinner (1976). Neil retired after a long career with W.G. Thompson’s & Sons Ltd, and recently took on part time work with SGS research. He loved the agricultural community he was raised in and was respected by his colleagues in the field. He was a devoted and hard working community member and volunteer who was friends with many and liked by all. He was given a Lifetime Membership to the Hensall & District Kinsmen Club in May 2014. He was an animal lover and serious book worm, who would read voraciously and always have several books on the go. His retirement years allowed him to become a passionate world traveller which he was doing at the time of his passing. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Neil’s life will be held at the Hensall Community Centre, 157 Oxford Street West, Hensall on Saturday, May 26th from 1-4 PM. Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter (519-235-1220) entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice in Neil’s honour would be appreciated by the family.

Sue and family of Neil,
It was a big shock to learn that Neil had passed away. He was so full of life and always willing to help no matter what the task was. I was fortunate and worked with Neil for many years both at Thompsons and now at SGS. He was one of the many people (at Thompsons ) who taught me the things that make me successful in what I do today both at work and life in general. Neil always had a good story to tell, was punctual, dedicated and took pride in his work- never felt he was too old to learn and open to trying anything.
He will be missed. May the happy times and good memories help you in the days to come.

To all those who surrounded Neil with your love, family and friends – Please accept our deepest sympathy. Neil was a long time neighbour and friend of our family. He was a hard worker but always had a smile on his face whenever you met him. He helped to raise four wonderful children who have gone on to become great people. The last time I met Neil we chatted briefly about each of his children and where they were and you could feel the pride in his voice. Although he was taken way too soon, he has left a beautiful legacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you as you remember him and recall special times with him. God Bless.
