Peacefully at home on Friday, May 3, 2019 James (Jim) McCarthy passed at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Marjorie (Donaldson) McCarthy. Dear Dad of Teresa (Neil), and Monica (Alain), and proud Grandpa of Evan, Adam; Isaac, and Jonah. Jim was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Mary McCarthy and his in-laws Ethel and Jim Donaldson, and Harold Mawson. Many thanks to Dr. Leger, Nurse Paula, and the VON for all the kindness and care given to Jim. Jim was a life-long resident and farmer in Lucan Biddulph Township. He was a joker, a talker, a lover of the ‘ponies’, and of the London Knights. To anyone he knew, Jim was a kind and generous soul. He was loved by his many family members, friends, and neighbours.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Monday from 4 – 8 PM. Prayers will be held in the funeral home at 4 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan on Tuesday, May 7th at 11 AM. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lucan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jim was a wonderful guy. I will be forever grateful for how he opened his heart, his home and his farm to me – his “city kid” cousin. I have so many great memories of days spent on the farm with Uncle Lawrence, Aunt Mary, Jim and all of you. His kindness, generosity and gentle spirit will not be forgotten. Today I am grateful that my Mom now lives in the fog of dementia as she is spared the sadness of Jim’s passing. Jimmy (as she always called him ) was one of her favourite people. She thought of him as a little brother and shared many tales of their childhood together. Rest in Peace Jim
