Unexpectedly, at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 2023 of Zurich at the age of 72. Cherished husband of Janet (Meidinger) McKinnon for over 48 years. Proud father of Danielle and Steve McInally, and Kris “Parker” and Jenny McKinnon. Adored grandpa of Keegan, Karsyn, Liam, Hope, Connor, and Faith. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Shane and Betty McKinnon, Nancy-Rae and Bob Lovie, Kim and Judy McKinnon, Jeff and Sandy McKinnon, Wayne McKinnon, Derek McKinnon, Doug and Audrey Meidinger, Marilyn and Joe Kenda, Wendy and Mike Masse, and Ed and Debbie Meidinger. Sadly missed by his step-mother Joan McKinnon and her family Doug, Cheryl (Gary), Dan (Julie), Lori (Rick), and Donna (Kevin). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Elizabeth “Betty” (Lowry) (1969) and Ray (2010) McKinnon, his brother Randy (2016), mother and father-in-law Leo (2009) and Cecelia (Bedour) (2009), and sister-in-law Jackie Meidinger (1967).
Kevin was an avid sportsman, but certainly known to all as a dedicated Detroit Red Wings fan. He was a volunteer firefighter for close to 40 years. He and Janet always enjoyed a trip to the casino in their free time. He loved a good game of cards or enjoying a cold beverage with his friends. Above all, his passion and love was for his family, cherishing each moment he spent with his kids and grandkids.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral home, 49 Goshen Street North, ZURICH on Tuesday from 2- 4 and 6 – 8 PM. Registration is required and appreciated. Please click “Register Now” below, to register.
Kevin’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 22 Mary Street, ZURICH on Wednesday, January 25th at 11 AM. Cremation with interment St. Boniface Cemetery, Zurich.

Oh where to begin….I can still hear Kevin’s laugh clear as a bell and a “Hey Clarkey” greeting at the door as he asked what trouble Danielle and I were going to be getting up to that day.
If we wanted to borrow money, booze, ciggies and/or his little blue standard truck, then we had to really weasel our reasons to him and sign off on IOU’s that would go into his red metal toolbox under lock and key. We would take our seats on the couch beside “his” chair in “his” front room. It was usually a long process, as he would laugh at us and say
“ ‘cha right, ‘cha right ya will” as we begged and tried to justify our way through to him. He always gave in to us, as he knew he would, and we knew he would, but not without all the bantering back and forth first. Deep down we all enjoyed it, but would never admit it out loud.
Kevin was the guy who could easily put a smile on your face and turn your mood right around by just being himself.
Kevin was always kind and welcoming and without a doubt will be missed by many.
…..I often think of those times spent on Edward St. in Z-Rock. Those times were priceless. ❤️
