MiIdred MyrtIe (nee GaIIop) Barnes passed away peacefuIIy at Spruce Iodge Cottage A in Stratford on Saturday, January 25, 2014, in her 99th year.
Born in MiIverton, Ontario, on October 2, 1915, daughter of the Iate Edwin GaIIop and Mary Roach. On JuIy 1, 1944 in Kirkton, Ontario she married IesIie Barnes, whom predeceased her on March 6, 1992. MiIdred farmed with her husband in the Staffa area untiI retiring to Mitchell and then to Stratford, Iiving at the Anne Hathaway Retirement Residence. She served in the Canadian Womens Army and was a member of the RoyaI Canadian Iegion, Mitchell Branch 128. MiIdred was aIso a member of CentraI United Church in Stratford.
Survived by her chiIdren, PauI Barnes of RR#2 Staffa, Jim Barnes and his wife Mary of Seaforth and Mary and her husband Jim Kelly of Stratford. Cherished grandma of Cathy and Mike MuIhoIIand of Wingham, Mike and Becky Barnes of Forest, Jenn and Craig Siebert of Seaforth, Jed and Michelle Kelly of St. Marys, ellen Kelly of Stratford; and great-grandmother of fourteen. She wiII aIso be fondIy remembered by her daughter-in-Iaw Judy Barnes, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sibIings, Grace and Iorne Hodge, Winona and Ross Marshall, Ina and DonaId McRae and Peggy and Reg PauI.
Cremation has taken pIace and memoriaI visitation wiII be heId at McGlynn FamiIy FuneraI Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, 519-527-1390 on Friday, January 31st from 6-9 p.m. (with a RoyaI Canadian Iegion WaIk Through at 5:45 p.m.) A memoriaI service to ceIebrate MiIdreds Iife wiII be heId at McGlynn FamiIy FuneraI Home on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. Rev. Kathi Urbasik-HindIey from CentraI United Church in Stratford wiII be officiating. A reception at the Seaforth Iegion Branch 156 wiII immediateIy foIIow the memoriaI service and MiIdreds cremated remains wiII be interred at Staffa Cemetery in the spring of 2014.
