Suddenly, Harold John Mills passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Monday, July 11, 2022 in his 90th year. Harold is survived by his wife, Verna (Dann) of 66 years, his four children and their spouses, Cynthia & Charles, Dann & Sally, Pat & Shirley and Ted and Paula. Grandfather to Brittany, Spencer and Leah, Courtney and Chris; Thomas & Melanie, Kate & Dan; Emma-Leigh & Greg, Grayden; Aaron & Jenna. Great-grandfather of Parker, Hudson, Mackenzie, Dawson and Evie. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Nelson and Hazel Mills, Donna & Roy McRobert, Bill German, Pat Thwaits and Bill & Judith Dann.
Harold was born on September 2, 1932, on the 10th concession of Blanshard Township. Harold lived his entire life in Blanshard Township. He was a proud farmer and many an acre of soil was tilled by Harold over the years. Harold was a lover of the good ole’ time music and would be simply delighted to get out the accordion to play sitting outside with Verna, the birds, or when he played music with his friends. When Harold and Verna moved off the farm to their new home, they enjoyed their flower gardens. Harold’s flowers often got more fertilizer than the required amount. Harold would not pass up an opportunity to give tours of the gardens with family and friends.
Harold was predeceased by his parents, Jack & Dorothy Mills, brother Ron, sister Florence and brother-in-law Gerald Millson, brother-in-law Dan Worton, sister-in-law Norma German, brother-in-law George Taylor and sister-in-law Judy Dann.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service officiated by David Burghardt will take place on Friday, July 15th at 11 AM at the Granton Cemetery (corner of Granton Line and Whalen Line, just north of Granton, ON) . After the service, the family invites you to the Granton Pavillion to celebrate Harold’s life. Haskett Funeral Home, LUCAN entrusted with arrangements.
If you wish, donations to the Granton Cemetery Board would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Dear Verna & family,
I share your tears. Our many recent conversations have given me a warm sense of Harold and a most wonderful life lived. The music of your memories will quietly fill your hearts going forward. The harmonies shared will fill you with joy. You will hear the melodies in bird song, bees in your flowers and the babble of the water beneath your garden bridge. The seasons on the 10th of Blanshard will bring forth bounty from the soil and Harold’s legacy will continue. You have all been richly blessed.

Dear Verna ,Cindy and Charles,Dan and Sally,Pat and Shirley,Ted and Paula and families. We are sorry to hear about our long time neighbour passing so suddenly after recently having surgery . There are not many who played the accordion that I knew in my lifetime and I can remember back when we were kids and Harold would be playing his accordion for all to enjoy. He is the last of the originals that has lived his whole life on the old 10th of Blanchard. The people in the nursing homes that Harold has played at will miss him as will all his family and friends. Our deepest sympathy to you all on this great loss to your family.

Dear Verna, Cindy and Charles, Dann and Sally, Pat and Shirley, Ted and Paula, and your families,
We are so very sorry to hear of your husband, father, and grandfather’s passing – and send you our most sincere condolences. My mother, Jean Cook, also wishes to pass on her condolences. She has many wonderful memories from card parties, dances, church dinners, snowmobiling.
Harold has been so blessed to have had such a long and wonderful life. I feel like he is the last of the men from my Dad’s generation, from around Granton. All good friends and neighbours. As a little girl, I remember when Harold, along with my uncles, would help my dad, Fred Cook, with the corn harvest and putting the silage up into the silo. Then on to the next farmer’s corn. They could all be found helping each other out at that busy time of year. Cherish the many wonderful memories that he has left all of you with. What treasures they will be for each of you! A special hug out to Cindy.
Sincerely, Gerald and Brenda Lenders
