With her lovely smile, passed away peacefully at Chartwell Parkhill Long Term Care Residence on Sunday, July 22, 2018 of Exeter in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late James (Jim) Mountenay (2016). Sadly missed by her children Anthony and Debbie Mountenay of Exeter, Christine and Marty Colfer of Vaughan, and Eugene Mountenay and Sylvia Wood of Parkhill. Cherished grandma of Joe Mountenay of Dartmouth, Chris and Melissa Mountenay of Angus, Charmaine and Steve Cummings of Florida, Craig Harrison of Calgary, Sara Colfer-Holiday and Jeff Holiday of Toronto, Dan Colfer and Amira James-Colfer of Toronto, and Scott Mountenay and Gabriela Reyes of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Adored great-grandma of Tennille, Levi, Haleigh, Austin, Ella, Luke, Ashley, Justin, Tyler, Jamie, and Sofia. Loving sister of Viola Gilchrist, Shirley and Mel Woodman, and Dalhsie Duquette. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Jessie Foster, sister Margaret, and brothers Fred, Arnold, Ebby, and Tom. Vera was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 8, 1932. When Vera and Jim moved to Exeter in 1974 she babysat many of the young children of Exeter. Vera loved every child she met. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at the coffee shops and had a passion for music and dancing. Right up until the very end she would listen to her music and if she couldn’t dance, she would wiggle her toes.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 25th at 11 AM. Interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
