The Flanigan family from Hamilton (and neigbours on Chalk St) are saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. Over the years we have enjoyed visits with Tom and Maddie and especially remember Tom playing soccer with our kids. Always a smile on his face and friendly wave when he drove by. Our heartfelt condolences to all the Murray Family.
Gina Corvari
Belated yet heartfelt condolences to Tom’s much loved and loving family. It was beautiful to hear that his boys had put a ladder up to the locked-down care centre, to get close to their dad and have a visit through the window. And no doubt it’s something Tom himself would have done in like circumstances. So true that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and quite a blessing that is in this particular ‘orchard’ that is the Murray family. Cathy, what a touching eulogy you spoke in honour of your dad; I was sorry when it ended – think I could have listened to those memories of him til the cows come home. It was only a handful or so of times that I actually got to meet your dad, far too few. For each time I was in Tom’s company, it was just such a pleasure.

Our sincere sympathy to the Murray family at this difficult time.
I first met Tommy 35 years ago. We were both taking a woodworking class at Central High School in Stratford. I was building a harvest kitchen table and he was making rocking horses for his grandchildren. I got to know him well that winter and have been friends ever since. We still use this kitchen table and think of Tommy often while we eat at it. I admired his positive decisive nature that made him to be larger than life and ready to take on the world as no job was too big. A man with a hearty laugh and a big heart that absolutely stood up for what he believed. A great example of a real good life really well lived. Rest in peace Tommy. Your work here is certainly done.

We remember laughter around the table, the celebration of all things good (including electricity) and the presence of a wonderful man. He was someone you just wanted to be with as he had such a great energy. Something amazing happened that day in all our lives. My sympathy with the passing of your Dad. I will always remember Tom, for being a volunteer driver and taking my Dad – Nick Blom – to London for cancer treatments. Dad always enjoyed those drives with Tom the most. He also came into my store , Seaforth Sewing Centre, quite a bit after your Mom passed, with wardrobe malfunctions that he needed help with, and usually, with a laugh or two, we would get things sorted out. People like him make this world a better place. Hugs to all of you.

Dear Joanne, Neil, Cathy, Allan, Marilyn, Mark, Mary and Spouses.
As a new bride “just past the jog” on Beechwood Line, I recall frequently hearing about the Sunday night (or any night of the week) visits/card games that Jack and Mary, Ray and Vera, Tommy and Maddie and John and Marg enjoyed. It was a regular event and they had their own Beechwood commune. And just today my sister-in-law relates her frequent walks “ up through the fields to go to Tommy’s “to visit Maddie. Later, I learned about the dance group that included Tommy and Maddie who attended weekly dances at Lakeside. Life was always an adventure for your parents. You boys have been so fortunate over many years to have had your Dad, even in retirement help you and coach you on your own farms. If only every young farmer starting up could be so blessed !
In not being able to attend Dad’s funeral, I am acutely reminded of the repercussions of Covid -19, but be assured that I will be with you in spirit and prayer on Friday as you say your good-byes. I’m sure there was one huge reunion in the heavens last Sunday as the last member of a Murray generation, a card player and a dancer arrived in Paradise. And I know one other guy, who as a friend and former neighbour would have been at the front of the line to welcome your Dad home. Virtual hugs ! ❤️
Brian and Karen Nigh
To all of Tom’s family you are in our thoughts. “ How lucky is it to have someone so wonderful that it makes saying goodbye so hard “ Tom always had a glint in his eye and a smile on his face. It was always fun to have a chat with him. He will be missed by his family and friends.

I have been thinking all week about Uncle Tommy and what a wonderful man he was and what an amazing legacy he has left. I am so happy that my job has brought me into contact with Mark and I was able to ask about Uncle Tommy just last week. When naming our son I wanted to use the name Dominic but my dad wouldn’t let me so we went with Tommy and his middle name being Murray. What a great person to be named after! Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Sending you a virtual hug.

Hello to Joanne, Neil, Cathy, Al, Marilyn, Mark and, Mary,
When I head of your dad’s passing, immediately memories flowed of our childhood neighbour across the road from my parents farm. I remember Tommy’s high energy level, being ‘on the go’ constantly, never appearing tired or any job being too big. While he worked, it was with joy and a smile since he loved his life and career. However, none of these was my first memory. His laugh was. While plaing outside as youngsters, several times a day we would hear that great big belly laugh coming over the lilac bushes and across the road. We would actually stop, listen and within seconds, we would all be laughing too since Tommy’s laugh was so infectious. We also benefitted as kids from Tommy’s model of being a good husband, father and neighbour, committed to family, Church and community. You are blest to have had such a great dad. Tommy will be missed.
Richard Ares

Dear Joanne, Neil, Cathy, Allan, Marilyn, Mark & Mary.
Where to begin? No need to tell you that you are fortunate to have had such wonderful parents. Beyond that, they were terrific friends and neighbours, especially to all our families who lived around the jog. So many memories of informal get togethers, ball games on front yards, tobogganing, and helping each other when needed. I can’t imagine growing up in a better place.
Truly the end of an era.
Prayers & hugs.

Joanne, Neil, Cathy, Al, Marilyn, Mark & Mary and all the Murray family. My deepest sympathy to you all in the loss of your Dad, Tom. We enjoyed have talks of all of the old times that our parents had back in the day, the mock weddings and parties they use to enjoy. When he came into the Manor he knew who I was but would always call me Archie, as he always said it was easier to say then remembering which of Dads girls I was. Always made me feel good and always had your Dad chuckling. Hold all of those precious memories close . Big Hugs to all.

Dear Joanne, Neil, Cathy, Allan, Marilyn, Mark, Mary, spouses and grandchildren,
At the death of your dear father, my heart is filled with many treasured memories
of your parents and all of you as our families shared life on adjoining farms from 1947 to the present.
Mark & Joan and John & Sarah now share the line fence.
Your parents were fine neighbours and close friends.
During my last wonderful visit with your dad at home last September, we shared stories of long ago.
I grieve that this pandemic doesn’t allow me to be with you during this time of saying goodbye to
your beloved father.
