Passed away suddenly at his home, with his family by his side, on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Nancy (McFarlane) Pearce for 61 years. Cherished father of the late Steve “Ponch” Pearce (2012), and Andrea and Craig Alexander. Adored poppa of Luke and Samantha Alexander, the late Garrett Alexander (2020) and loving great-poppa of Izzy. Dear brother-in-law of Myrna and Bernie Fishman, Janice and Bert DeGroot and Bill McFarlane and Jill Haines. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his brother Ernie Pearce (1997), his mother Gladys (Park) Pearce (2009), and parents-in-law Melville and Florence (Laidlaw) McFarlane.
Wayne worked in the building supplies and lumber industry for over 55 years around the SW Ontario area. He was also very involved in the community. Wayne earned his 50 year pin with the Masonic Lodge in 2019 and was also involved in the Exeter Legion, and South Huron Fire Department. In his free time, Wayne enjoyed coaching and watching his children and grandkids play sports – he was always their biggest fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing and after retirement he enjoyed his mornings having Coffee with friends around town.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter. Interment at Exeter Cemetery. For those wishing to view the service a recording will be available at www.facebook.com/haskettfh on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Donations to Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, South Huron Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice in Wayne’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
