Passed away peacefully at her home from heart disease on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the age of 66.
Beloved wife of Don Raycraft for over 25 years.
Kim was the daughter of Sandra (Malcolm) McMullen (nee Gorman) and Everitt Malcolm, born August 2, 1958 in North Bay, Ontario. She was devoted to her maternal grandparents, Clifford and Frances Gorman.
She leaves to mourn her husband Don, children Derek, Heidi (Brendan), Luke (Bronwen) and Laura, grandson Dante. Kim will be missed by her siblings Sandra (John), John (Judy), Mark (Leanne), Jenny (Ed), Rhonda (Kevin) and Darlene (Steve). She was proud to be an aunt to many nieces and nephews and their children.
Kim is predeceased by her mom and husband, Sandra McMullen (Don), Dad and wife Everitt Malcolm (Cathie), older brother Wesley James (1986), beloved daughter Meagan Ellis, grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In 1999, Kim and Don married, joining their families and became a family of seven, with children Derek Ellis, Heidi Ellis, Luke Raycraft, Laura Raycraft and Meagan Ellis, who passed away suddenly in June, 2023. One grandson, their pride and joy, Dante Borja, aged 10.
Kim enjoyed a long and varied career in Stratford, Ontario. She enjoyed teaching small children and children with special needs. She was involved in business and office administration for her family business. She was employed as a Mental Health Supporter and Coordinator and worked in appliance sales and service. Kim loved to be involved in the education of her children. She had a passion and lifelong interest in ballet, community service and artistic endeavours. She adored her current pets – Misty, Mister and Franny and all of her pets over the years. They will continue to provide Don with companionship for a long time.
Kim gives thanks for friendships in her life, lasting many years. At 14, Kim became friends with Murray and Lorraine Hall and their children Jim and Daryl. They offered so much love and guidance and were godparents to Meagan. Nick Busigin and Gail Selkirk raised their child in the same neighbourhood, forming a lasting friendship that was very special to Kim.
In 2016 Kim and Don left Stratford for Lucan, Ontario. Kim was inspired to found a mission called Gembu Public School Sponsorship. Her mission was to improve the quality of education in a very impoverished school in Nigeria. Lucan accepted this challenge with open arms, volunteering, donating goods and helping to fund the shipping. Old friends and new ones came together to make a difference (see Facebook group).
Kim was thankful for the wonderful care she received from the Ontario Health at Home Hospice under the care of Dr. D. Van Dam and the V.O.N.. She was lovingly cared for by her husband Don and son Derek. Kim was excited about her journey home to serve Jesus and to be reunited with her daughter Meagan, and other loved ones. Special thanks and love to Ruthann Burke (Mike) who unfailingly loved and nurtured our family.
Kim’s memorial service will be held at Holy Trinty Anglican Church, 189 Main Street, LUCAN on Saturday, September 14th at 10:30 AM. A time of fellowship will follow (location to be announced).
In lieu of flowers, Kim would deeply appreciate donations for expenses and therapeutic needs of her oldest son, care of Don Raycraft, 132 Market Street, Lucan, Ontario N0M 2J0 or donations to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Lucan would also be appreciated.

Dear Don and family,
I am sorry for your loss. Kim was a wonderful addition to the Market St. hood and she will be missed. Her kindness was always on display and she had a fantastic sense of humour. She loved the children, animals and most people in our area. She was fierce protective of her fur babies and always listened to our troubles with a sympathetic ear. She was one of a kind and I will miss hearing her laughter and voice on the street. I hope in time, your grief will turn to only good memories and the love you shared.
If there is anything you need Don, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Your neighbors, Peter & Kelly Wilson

Kim and I were (I think) fourth cousins once removed, something I discovered through an online family genealogy group. When I joined that group many years ago, Kim was one of the first to welcome me, and instantly became my “friend” – always interested in my family and all our happenings, always encouraging and supporting and kind. Although I never had the chance to meet her in ‘real life,’ her warmth and caring were as genuine as any ‘real life’ family member and her heartfelt stories, comments and messages made me feel as though we were connected.
And we were.
Although we never met in person and are very different people, Kim was my family and I will miss her.
I know her memory will be a blessing to all who knew her – in ‘real life’ or otherwise.

A Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived
while I was strong.
Continue my heritage,
I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease,
my soul is at rest.
Remembering all,
how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions,
no matter how small.
Go on with your life,
don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly,
so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes
we’re together again.”

The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
