Suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, August 9, 2020 of RR 2 Seaforth at the age of 67. Cherished husband and best friend of Dawn (Wood) Riley for over 46 years. Proud father of Stacey St. Denis, and Jamie Riley and Angela Hartin. Adored poppa of Nikolas, and Mason St. Denis and Jeylin, Westin, and Chanel Riley. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Shirley Langlois of Calgary, AB, David and Joan Riley of Kitchener, Harvey Riley of St. Thomas, Nancy and Douglas Bickell of Brampton, Steven and Stella Riley of Kitchener, and Ralph and Dianne Wood of Harpurhey. Clayton will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and his dog Scanner. Predeceased by his parents Archie and Viola (Cardiff) Riley, sister-in-law Carol Riley, brother-in-law Randy Wood, and parents-in-law Chip and Anne Wood.
Clayton was a lifelong farmer, with a passion for his livestock and fields. He was a true “go big or go home” kind of guy. He was a gentle giant who loved life, a “walking heart on two legs”. Clayton will be greatly missed on the yearly moose hunting trips, always organizing everyone to ensure the tags and his hunting buddies were looked after and in order for the upcoming season. It was once said that Clayton could tell better stories than Walt Disney. Each time the story was told, it always got bigger and better. He never missed an opportunity for road side produce deliveries, or to help someone in need.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, SEAFORTH on Thursday from 2–4 and 7–9 PM. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP with a time to attend the visitation. Please click “Register Now” below to register. Dawn, my heartfelt condolences! I just found out about Clayton yesterday (October 18) out here in Edmonton. I built silos summer of 1977 with Clayton, Dan Cronin and Mike Parsons. I have never laughed so much at any job as I did that summer! Clayton was a great fella to work with and a hell of a hard worker. Wish I had run into him in the past years! Take care Dawn.
Bo Johnson
I remember going through public school with Clayter. I was often at the Riley house playing out in the fields with him. He was always lots of fun and very innovative. Clayton never missed an opportunity to make some money. I remember having a cucumber patch to sell to Bick’s pickles in Dublin. One morning I got up and Clayton had already picked all my cucumbers and was taking them to Bick’s himself. He laughed and laughed. Said I needed to get up earlier to catch the worm. What a guy.
So sorry Dawn and family for your loss. He’ll be missed for sure.

Dawn, Stacey, Jamie, Ang and families. Our hearts are sad with Claytons passing. We’ve been neighbours forever. When we had the farm he always lent a helping hand. If help was needed to deliver a stubborn lamb or help with a ewe who had a difficult birth, an extra hand for haying… Clayton would always come. We will miss him dropping by for a drink and a visit. We always learned something and loved to hear his amazing stories. He had a big kind heart. He loved his animals and being a FARMER! He was so proud of his family and loved to talk about all of his Grandchildren. Our sincere condolences to all of you with the sudden loss of your Husband, Dad and Poppa. You are all in our thoughts. Clayton will be missed by many.
