11 November 1965 – 2 March, 2023
At Victoria Hospital, London on March 2, 2023 of London and formerly of Huron Park at the age of 57. David is survived by his parents Thea and Duff Rothbauer, his sister Paulette (Irene), his brother Mark (Christina), and by his niece Kelsey and nephew Noah (Rose). He had lost touch with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Canada and in Europe. He will be missed by Ian, Gord, Holly, Charity, Verity and many others who knew and loved him. Predeceased by his dear friend Brandi.
David served with pride in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1983 to 2000. After his time in the military, he had a long career as a computer programmer, writing code for health integration information technology systems. He was an avid gamer and wrote code for game design. He loved performing and participated in community theatre in Stratford and St. Mary’s and had begun to work in earnest on his stand-up comedy routines. David lived openly with mental illness and was a proud advocate for people less privileged and with less access to care and services. He opened his life and his home to people who often had nowhere else to turn. And finally, anyone who knew David, knew of his abiding love of dogs, how they nurtured and sustained him, and quite literally, kept him going.
In keeping with David’s wishes cremation has taken place. Donations to the London and Middlesex County Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

I’m sincerely saddened by David’s passing.
I have a fond memory of David. He was a young dark haired boy, running down my parents driveway to jump in the car. We went flying over southwestern Ontario.
We had fun, a good day.
Condolences
