Peacefully, with sadness, his family announces his passing at Chartwell Long Term Care Residence, London on Monday, December 12, 2016, formerly of Lucan, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Boland) Ryan (2009). Dear father of Patrick Ryan, and Colleen and Mike Williams all of London, Marianne Ryan of Edmonton, and Dianne Ryan and Rob Hogg of Toronto. Dear grandfather of Sean, Adam and Robert; Kelly (Matt) and Michelle; and Madison, and Ainsley. Great-grandfather of Caleb. Dear brother of Frank and sister-in-law Marie Ryan of London, sister-in-laws Margaret Boland of St. Jacobs, Margaret Boland of Grand Bend, and Theresa Boland of London. Predeceased by his daughter Nancy Ryan, son Paul Ryan, sister Grace Fraser, brothers Edward (Ed), William (Bill), and Jack.
Jim was a proud, long-time farmer in Middlesex County. He always felt that each day was a great day to be out in the field, no matter what the weather. Every Saturday night, Jim watched Hockey Night in Canada. His favourite players were Gordie Howe, and Jean Beliveau. He loved a good euchre game, and always had a great sense of humour. Jim was a councillor and a member of the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority Board. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church. Most of all, Jim loved to spend time with the family. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Eric Nicholls, and the wonderful and dedicated staff at Chartwell, London for their care and kindness to our father.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Prayers will be said in the funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 1:45 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan on Friday, December 16th at 11 AM with Father Ross Bartley presiding. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lucan. .
Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
