Peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy. Maria Catharina (Corsten), formerly of Ilderton in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Theodorus Hubertus Sentjens for 63 years. Beloved mother of John (Alex), Helen Legg (Ed), William (Donna), Matthew, Josie, and Mary Greeno (Len). Proud grandmother of Elric (Michelle), Ariel (Justin), Daniel (Krista), Ian (Erin), Nathan, Katherine (James), Nicholas, James, Laura, and Lindsey. Proud great-grandmother of Anora, Kynan, Jace, Kaden, Zoe, Theo, Liam, and Hudson. Survived, in the Netherlands, by her sister Bea and her brother Lei. Predeceased by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Cathy was born May 20, 1929, in Hunsel, Limburg, The Netherlands and was married February 15, 1955. She and her husband immigrated to Canada later that year, settled in Southwestern Ontario and finally chose the Lucan/Ilderton area to raise their six children. She was a kind, gentle, caring, hardworking soul and a dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Church and the CWL.
The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff of Strathmere Lodge; Dr. Mithowani, nurses, PSWs, recreation, dietary and cleaning staff. Cathy had lived there for 11 years and they were her second family.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Thursday, June 22nd from 7-9 PM. Prayers will be said in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:45 PM. Registration is appreciated for visitation only. Please click “register now” below to register. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan on Friday June 23rd at 11 AM with Father Jude Ogbenna presiding. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lucan.
Donations in Cathy’s memory, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Strathmere Lodge Ladies’ Auxiliary, Alzheimer Society, or a charity of your choice.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).
