Heather passed peacefully away at home on February 13th, 2020 after a year long battle with cancer. Her fight ended the same way it began, with her husband and three sons at her side. Her courage and strength in the last year helped her family and friends prepare for her final days and no one could have faced the disease and treatment more courageously. Her goal was to enjoy this last Christmas with her family, and to see her latest granddaughter (Maddie Heather) enter the world. She achieved both these cherished goals. Dave and Heather, married for 45 years, together they raised three sons (Blair, Scott and David). All were born in different provinces and she oversaw moving the family six times with a practicality and sense of adventure that made difficult things happen with ease. While raising a family Heather still always found a way to continue to practice as a Nurse. She worked at the major Cancer Treatment Centres in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg through a career that spanned 35 years. The ease to which she always found employment and the diversity of the areas she worked in is a testament to the high regard she was held in. One of her greatest joys was watching her sons marry wonderful women. Blair to Sarah in 2011, Scott to Alex in 2016 and David to Sinead in 2017. Her GREATEST joy was being Nanna to their children. Tessa and Kate in Fredericton with Blair and Sarah and Kaiden, Bennett and Maddie with David and Sinead in Calgary. Heather was able to have two great family visits with them all together in 2019, this left a smile on her face from all the wonderful memories. Heather is survived by her loving husband Dave, sons Blair, Scott and David, grandchildren, Tessa, Kate, Kaiden, Bennett and Maddie, sister Debbie and husband Ron and her brother Jim, many nieces and nephews, and friends. Predeceased by her parents Jim and Helen McNaughton. Heather will join her parents in their family plot at Medway Cemetery near Ilderton Ontario. Ilderton has always been a second home for her and our family.
Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 AM, where the celebration of life will be held at 11 AM. Interment to follow lunch at Medway Cemetery, Middlesex Centre, Ontario.

Don and I are devastated by your loss. Heather was always a shining light in our hockey days, a wonderful hostess to the old timers and a supportive Hockey Mum to the boys. Above all she was a truly beautiful person, inside and out.
Our deepest condolences to your entire family, you know you have lost a great one. Keep her memories alive.
