Peacefully at Clinton Public Hospital, on Friday, May 21, 2010, George V. “Butch” Sweeney of Clinton, passed away in his68th year. Beloved wife of Marion (Schroeder) Sweeney. Dear father of Kevin of Whitehorse, Yukon and Kimberly and Shawn Layton of Brucefield. Loving grandfather of Kara-Beth, Seth and Gage Sweeney, Ashly and Amanda Carter. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jerome and Carmel Sweeney, Sharon and Brian Sims, Mozart and Julie Gelinas, Melissa and Neil Francis, Marc and Cindy Gelinas and Martin and Cheryl Gelinas, Ron and Sharen Schroeder, Ken and Darlene Schroeder and Sandra and Lee Desjardine. Sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Victor Sweeney and Marie Louise (Harvey) Gelinas, stepfather Mozart Gelinas, sisters Linda Sweeney and Michele Gelinas and brother-in-law Keva Silverstein.
Visitation in the J. M. McBeath Funeral Home, 49 Goshen St. N., Zurich on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held in St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. Fr. Peter Keller celebrant . Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Parish Prayers at 2 p.m. and Knights of Colombus Prayers will be said on Sunday at 6:30p.m.

I was so sorry to hear of Butch’s passing. I had seldom seen him over the years but I have many fond memories of him from long ago, when we were young teenagers. He was such a lovely kid—lively and fun, much given to teasing his elders, always affectionate and kind.
