Passed away tragically and suddenly as a result of exposure to the harsh outdoor elements. The kind and loving husband and father suffered from a massive heart attack and his loving and supportive wife died trying to save the love of her life. Two beautiful lights have ceased to shine and this world will be forever a darker place. Loving parents of Michele and Stephen Hunt of Sarnia and Ann and Nick DeRosa of Vero Beach, Florida. Much loved grandparents of Nicholas and Hayley Hunt and Caleb, Nichole and Daniel DeRosa. They will be missed by Ada’s sister Jean Ferguson and her Aunt Eleanor Hare both of Owen Sound and Grant’s sisters Jean Jolly and Marion Triebner both of Exeter. Predeceased by their son Mark Triebner (1987), her sister Grace Barfoot, infant sister Ruth, and Grant’s brothers Fredrick, David, Leon, Gordon and Stuart and infant Gerald.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM where the funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11 AM. Interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada or Gideons International would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Anne & Michele
I think uncle Grant would be chuffed by all the international media attention he and Aunt Ada are receiving. They have left their story of love & commitment for all the world to focus on as a blueprint to a lasting marriage. Our thoughts and love is with you both.

May the warmth of God’s love embrace you
May the compassion of those who care surround you
And may the joy you shared with your loved ones

I don’t have the words to tell you how deeply Grant and Ada’s deaths have affected all of us.

And now the whole country knows of their love. These condolences will reassure you all the rest of your life of the love that’s surrounding you.

Extreme upset and sadnesses pains our hearts, with the loss of two wonderful loving souls. Remembering the love and kindness of aunt Ada and uncle Grant, and all the laughter that we had at some of the conversations uncle Grant rolled through with us. You are who you are because of the love and nurturing of wonderful parents! Well done aunt Ada and uncle Grant! May peace be with the family through this very rough ordeal. Please know that our love and prayers are with you all.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear loved ones. Please accept my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Grant and Ada Triebner. This was an unimaginable loss and sometimes words can fail to bring comfort to the broken-hearted. May you find the expressions at Psalm 34:18 and Psalm 147:3 to be a source of comfort and inner peace.

Ann and Michelle,
I was shocked to hear of your parents’ passing. I have SO many fond memories of sleepovers at your house…Your dad joking, teasing and singing while doing Mark’s therapy, your mom busy at the wood stove just trying to keep us out of trouble. What a privilege I didn’t recognize as a child to have spent time in the home of such a resilient couple.
With the sense of peace that can only come from Christ, they wrote such a life story.
I’m sending you my thoughts and love.

Dear Michele and Ann;
No words can express the great heartache that I feel with the loss of your Mom and Dad, my Aunt Ada and Uncle Grant, yet I know it cannot compare to your heartache and pain. The photograph captures a hint of Uncle Grant’s mischievous nature in his eyes and smile, and Aunt Ada’s gentle serenity. We love them and will miss them so much. Our sympathies to you and your families and our extended families, at this time. May you feel some comfort in knowing that Aunt Ada and Uncle Grant are still together and in the care of our Heavenly Father. All our love and prayers. Ann and Michelle – it is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of your Mom and Dad. We recall many fond memories of fellowship with them during our time as their Pastors and continuing to correspond with your Mom for a number of years following our departure from Exeter. We considered them as dear friends. They were loyal and faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Just recently, we viewed a picture of the Triebner siblings singing at a special musical event at EPT of which Grant was a part. Ada was an integral part of the Women’s Ministry Group. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended families.
Allan and Carolyn Donnan
Ann and Michelle – so sorry to hear that your Mom and Dad have passed away. That their love story ends with them not feeling the loss of the other is some comfort for you but I am sure that the loss is even more painful for you and your families now.
I enjoyed my many visits with your parents when I returned to Exeter. The best visits were always in late spring when we would go back together and get some “organic” rhubarb” that I could take home and make a pie using your Moms recipe. No visit was complete without your Dad sitting in that armchair telling stories that left us both laughing followed by your mother saying “Oh Grant!”. They will be missed but have left you with a wonderful legacy of love and faith.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I, like you went through something similar in 1983. Both my parent’s died within a week to the day of each other. Both happened out of the blue. I wasn’t very old. I would like to say I know what you are going through, but I can’t. Soooooo many people said that to me. They had no idea what I was going through! They were not me! I did get through it though. I am an only child. All I had was a dog left back then. His name was Bandit. Ban lived to be 17 yrs! I had very good friend’s also. Not much family support, I am adopted. People asked how I got through it. I said my dog, meaning Bandit. Then you just do what you have to do. You are in a fog. I was. Dog’s are better than most people. I am so sorry for your unexpected loss. Catherine

Sorry to here of the passing of a wonderful couple of whom I had the pleasure of knowing. Through ups and downs they did it together. I had the pleasure of working with Ada with the children’s ministry at Exeter Pentecostal Churchin years past. She had such a deep love for each of the young children in her charge.
Although many consider this a tradegy, I am so glad they went together. God knew they needed to be together.

Although under terrible circumstances, what a beautiful love story! Leaving this world together, I feel for the ones left behind but may it comfort knowing Our Heavenly Father always has a plan in place from the day we enter. They sound like a couple who were inseparable, this terrible tragedy has touched so many hearts from close and far. Please except sincere sympathy to all the families and friends of Ada and Grant.

Dear Michele, Ann and Families
Uncle Grant and Aunt Ada would be humbled by all the media attention their relationship is recieving. They shared a Love so Beautifully Precious complete strangers sense the measure of Earth’s loss.
I couldn’t have asked God for a better example of unconditional acceptance and grace in my life. I’ll always remember Aunt Ada’s gentle soul and the way Uncle Grant’s laugh danced across my heart.
I wish words healed, that tears could wash away your pain and Heavens gates opened both ways but until that day you see them both again, I wanted to say how much I love you and thank you for sharing their Incredible Light with me.

Dear Ann, Michelle and families,
I got to know Grant and Ada over many years. Their obvious love and respect for each other was evident as we chatted about their family, our mutual love of gardening ( the lemon tree) and their rural life together. Grant often asked about our family, too, as he was once their bus driver. Just the nicest people. I am so glad to have known them and so very sorry for your loss. May your faith and memories ease the pain and give you peace.
Sincerely,

This writer doesn’t know the Triebner family but notes how it stands out in the press (TV) as a particularly sad story. The writer misses his own deceased parents and feels empathy for the survivors of the family. Sometimes we’d like to get feedback from the other side of press-disseminated news; this little care note from a stranger is one such feedback, a winter bud on the tree in this shared cold snap. May you find strength as life moves on.

To the Triebner Family … I am so sorry for you and yet at the same time, happy. I have never met your parents, I do not know you, and I have only been through Exeter once or twice, so the only connection is love. As I sit here at my desk in downtown Toronto, tears are streaming down my cheeks for a couple I never met, who loved and struggled and built a life together. We never met, yet I feel I knew them. Once again, I am so sorry.

Dear Ann (and family),
When I saw the Triebner name in the newspaper, I hoped that it wasn’t your parents, but alas it was. I think of you and fondly remember our days working at UH as “chesties”. Your parents were a love story. I am so sorry that you had to lose them both at once. Sending love and condolences your way.

Michelle and Ann, and families, no words can appropriately express my heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of your parents. It was and always will be my honor to have had them as neighbors and friends.

Larry & Diane Prouty
We were disheartened and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Grant and Ada. We remember so many happy times when we used to drop by their home for a visit, with Mom and Dad Prouty. There would be much laughter, and kidding all around. We have so many wonderful memories of them, and the kindness that they exemplified!
Surely though, the Triebner family is front and centre in our prayers. We pray for our Savior’s love to surround you, and may He gently rock you in His loving arms.
Now we cling to the precious promise found in I Corinthians 5:1
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
We are so thankful for the hope that we have in Christ, that someday we will be reunited with our loved ones once again.

Michele & Ann & families …. We so loved listening to Uncle Grant’s wonderful tales of days gone by, his boisterous laugh and to Aunt Ada saying “Oh, Grant!”. They were, to us, an amazing example of how a marriage should be. They very obviously adored each other. We will miss them so much but find comfort in knowing that they are most definitely with the Lord. We can just imagine them sitting at a dinner table with Jesus, regaling Him with stories. Praying that God’s love will heal your sorrow, and His peace replace your heartache with warm and loving memories.

Lynchs are around you. Aunt Beat and Uncle Earl will be joyous to have them home.

We are saddened and dismayed to learn of the sudden passing of Grant and Ada. Our hearts break for their beloved daughters and their families. We find our comfort in the sure and certain knowledge that they are now both together with Jesus. To Michelle and Anne we hope you can also find comfort in this knowledge. God whispers to us … “All is well.”

Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.

Michelle , Anne and families;
When words are needed most, they can be most difficult to say.
But hope you’ll remember that many people are thinking of you now with the very deepest sympathy

Deep sadness fills our hearts as we process the passing of a devoted and wonderful Christian couple. Our family is smaller and diminished by their unexpected passing. Fond memories make our loss even greater. As you know, our prayers and thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Don, Christina, Timothy, Christopher and Jeffrey Jolly
