August 29, 1929 – May 14, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Bill. Surrounded by family, Bill passed away peacefully at the South Huron Hospital, Exeter at the age of 89 on May 14, 2019. Born and raised in Toronto, Bill was the son of the late Edward and Emma Tugwell. He began his career with the Ontario government in 1970, where he continued to work until he became a proud retiree in 1994. Bill was a man of many words who enjoyed sharing his passion for politics and storytelling. Loving husband of 60 years to Margaret (Marg) Tugwell. Cherished father of Karen and Gord Sisson, Norma and Peter Maher, Marni and Harold Van Aaken, Billy Tugwell, and Wayne and Joy Tugwell. Beloved Grandpa of Rosemary, Matthew (Me-Linh), Kelly, David (Aimee), Amanda (Taylor), Jessica (Steve), Adrienne, Dawson, Amber, Krystal (Scott) and Ashley. Proud Great Grandpa to Noelle, Scott, Rachael, Emberleigh, Caden, Grayson, Fraser, Sullivan, and Marlowe. He will be greatly missed by his faithful fur companion Tia, and his extended family and friends. Predeceased by his brothers Charlie, Harold, Richard and Ken; sisters Lorrain, Alice, Gladys and Nellie; his father and mother in-law Art and Mary O’Hagan and brother in-law Patrick.
Friends and family will be received at Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Saturday, May 18th from 9:30 – 11:30 AM where a Celebration of Life in Bill’s honour will follow at 12 Noon. Cremation to follow.
If desired, donations to the Children’s Health Foundation or SE Health would be appreciated by the family.

It was such sad news when Marni sent me a message of her fathers passing. Bill was a wonderful man and I have fond memories of him over the years when I visited Canada firstly with my brother Francie many years ago staying with Bill and Margaret and then returning a few times over recent years with my wife Koren and 2 children to visit all our family. Bill will be sadly missed by family and friends both in Canada, Ireland and England. RIP Bill and love to all the family.
