With the love of her family in her heart, Rosa Maria (neé Van Nynatten) Van Bergen passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Monday, April 13, 2020. In her 92 years among us Rosa was a source of love and faith within the circle of her family and friends. Rosa created countless treasures with her knitting needles and her quilting skills, more importantly Rosa threaded countless stitches of caring and sharing in the lives of all who were privileged to know her.
Rosa will be lovingly remembered by her children Joanne and Lloyd Pickering, Linda and Robert Kistner, Peter and Bonnie Van Bergen, Maryann and Pat Feeney, Paul and Deb Van Bergen, Teresa and Paul White and Nancy and Ken Ruston. Memories of a much loved grandma remain with 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Left to reminisce days gone by are siblings Dien Vrints, Marie Suykerbuyk, Rika Brosens and Leen Van Bergen, siblings-in-law Nellie Van Nynatten and Marie Van Nynatten and a large circle of family in Holland.
In faith, we trust that Rosa’s spirit is reunited in eternal life with her husband Frank (1998), their son Henry, her parents Peter and Johanna (née Naalden) Van Nynatten and all those in the Van Bergen and Van Nynatten families who have gone on before us.
Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth. Private family interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dublin. A time to honour Rose’s life and seek comfort in our faith will be held at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 22 Victoria Street, Seaforth, when love, handshakes and hugs can once again be shared safely. In the meantime, remember Rosa with a smile and offer a prayer of thanksgiving for the many ways she influenced our lives.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to St. James Catholic Church Fund Building Fund or Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Rose was one-of-a-kind! I have wonderful memories of the van Bergen family when I was a teenager living in Dublin. Their home was a second home for me as I babysat all the kids many times while Frank was on his milk route, allowing Rose to go to church. On my way home from school, I would pick up their mail at the post office, give it to Rose and she would give me one of the twins to feed and change. A good trade!
We send our condolences. Heaven is a better place now that Rose has arrived. With love to all the family.
John and Teddie (Thea) Willemse-Visser.

I will never forget all the fun I had while growing up in Dublin, the VanBergen place seemed like a 2nd home. We all had so much fun…..from the cucumber picking, egg cookies, chocolate sprinkles, listening to Rosa talk on the phone on the wall (with the cord that stretched miles across the kitchen), Frank coming home from work at Stacey’s…to the rug on the table with the plastic cover …… Rosa gave wonderful memories to all who knew her. Can you hear her say…..Ya-Ya-Ya-Ya with a smile on her face…She loved everyone. I could write a book, but I won’t. Everyone who knew her has stories to tell, she was a wonderful spirit and I will cherish her memory always.
Hold your memories close to your heart -as they truly are a gift.
Rosa you touched my heart ……..Rest well.
