Tante Rachel will lovingly be remembered by several nieces and nephews. Everyone will miss her bright smile, positive attitude, and her gentle loving personality. Rachel will be missed for her delicious Belgium “Lukken” Waffles. Rachel was happiest when she was working alongside her loving husband Hugo on the family farm or tending to her beautiful gardens.
A very deep expression of gratitude is extended to the staff at Amica for the excellent support, care, and compassion they showed Rachel each day. A special thanks to Olga, Lisa, and Amy. Your compassion, love, and genuine caring ways will not be forgotten. Thanks also to the McCormick Home for the extraordinary care Rachel received in her last days.

Rachel and Hugo were very special people. They had a way of hugging you with their warm smiles.
It was so sad losing Hugo and seeing what he did for Rachel before he died was a true testament of their love for one another. Rachel was such a kind, loving and positive person. We were all so lucky to have her in our lives. Hugo and Rachel were wonderful, supportive friends to our parents Peter and Lizette Lierman. They would always visit every month, even when mom’s health was failing and she couldn’t communicate or recognize anyone.
Rachel was an angel who is now with her beloved husband in heaven. I hope the knowledge that this beautiful couple is back together again will bring some peace to the family 💗

I loved Rachel very much and am sad that such a kind woman had to leave us. Rachel had been a prominent part of my life since I was a young child as she was my mothers neighbour when she was also very young. Rachel and I both shared a birthday on July 24 and I know I will always think of her on that day, and all the memories that I have. Despite being sad at the loss, I am glad that she is finally back with her Hugo.

Our sincere condolences to you all. Your loss of such a beautiful person, inside and out is for sure shared by anyone who had the honour of having met Rachel. I got to know Hugo and Rachel fondly when I made butter tarts for her when we lived at Ailsa Craig. Then when I worked at Tim Hortons, we got reacquainted again. As you say, Rachel and Hugo so loved each other and working side by side. Demonstrating true love to all of us. Now they are together again.
May your many great memories help you through now and in the future.

Sending our most sincere condolences to the whole family.
We had the privilege of knowing Hugo and Rachel since January 1991. We worked for them for years. They grew the best rutabagas!!! A most wonderful Lady Rachel was! Once she gave me her ” cookie” recipe! I bought the iron to make them!!
She will be missed but its comforting to know she’s with her soulmate Hugo once again.
Noella Cornelis-Litt
Deepest sympathies to the family.
I have so many memories of Rachel growing up. Working along side her on the turnip grader. Always a smile on her face and always so happy when we could visit. My favourite memory as a kid was when she and Hugo had my sister and I over to watch Annie on the dish. She made burgers and obviously made the night memorable (hAd to be over 35 years ago). You will be missed but you are with Hugo now. Love you!! Noella
