Surrounded by his loving family, peacefully, at home on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, of Exeter, in his 56th year. Beloved husband, best friend and soul mate of Julianne (MacLean) Varley for 32 years. Loving father of Kristylee (Varley) and Rob LeCureaux of Windsor, Scott Varley and Jenessa Varley both of Exeter. Proud grandfather of his little monkey Avery, his new pride and joy. Beloved son and son-in-law of Frank and Marg Varley of Hensall, Jerry and Alice MacLean of Exeter. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Darlene Lightfoot; Gary and Jane MacLean all of Exeter. Very special uncle of Amy and Tim; Jeff, Kim (Goddaughter) Eric, Michael and Kelsey. Great “Uncle Fun” of Tyler, Ashlyn, Grace, Carter and Travis. Missed by his 4-legged co-pilot, Chase. Ken enjoyed his leisure time at the cottage with family and friends. He also loved working with and serving the members of the community as part of the family business he was so dedicated to.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter (1 street west of Main), on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Exeter United Church, 42 James Street, Exeter on Saturday, January 16th at 11 AM. Interment Exeter Cemetery.

Dear Julianne and the entire Varley and MacLean Families,
We have travelled a similar difficult journey and the final goodbye is the most difficult thing to do. Your support and love for Ken was very evident when our paths crossed at UH. Difficult as it will be, try to take solace in the knowledge that Ken is at peace in Heaven until such a time until you meet again – and you will when He so decides. Ken’s service and Celebration of Life yesterday was so fitting and family oriented – he is most definately very proud of his family and sharing this proudly with all family, friends, and acquantance who have arrived in Heaven before him.
He obviously contributed to his family and community and he has left permanent footprints, making this earth a better place by his presence here.
In our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, John & Mary Allen

Never had I ever come across his path and not been greeted with a smile of welcome and a laugh to share… One couldn’t help but be transported to a better place just by being in his presence. He will be so greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of being his family member, friend, coworker, customer, and neighbour. There are no words or actions that could ever lessen your pain and sadness; but that very aura he possessed while on this earth will be forever around all of you…. He will never be gone….. but very deeply missed….. Love Rosie

At this time of his passing my thoughts inevitably go back to the teenage “Frankie” of almost 30 summers ago, driving the old Mercury Cougar his dad fixed up for him as a first car, a ready smile on his face, filled with fun, always with something to say to everyone and looking forward to the next hockey season. My condolences to all family and especially Julianne, Frank and Marg.

Dear Julianne, Kristylee, Scott and Jenessa, Alice, Jerry, Gary and Jane and the rest of the family;
Please accept our very deepest sympathy at this time. Ken was a great guy, always friendly and smiling. He never lost that smile, whether he was in a hurry to fulfill a customer’s request, going from point A to point B, heading into or from the arena, or when he was sitting in a parent/teacher interview. He was easy to talk to and tried to be so understanding of every situation. He took great pride in his family and the Home Hardware Company. We were privileged to have known him. We know what your family has gone through in the last months as you travelled Ken’s journey with him. It is never easy. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you. God bless.
