To my Sholdice Cousins:
Aunt Velma was such a special lady and I have many fond memories. Family picnics at the ‘farm’ come 1st to mind.
Such a remarkable life and having seen so many changes occur around her. The stories she could tell.
My sympathies to all.

It was with sadness that we found Velma’s place at the art table at McCormick Home empty today. We put on a candle surrounded by shells in memory of her and the residents talked of her friendliness, talent and how we miss her humming as she painted. What a wonderful creative person, always positive and ready to try something new.
I have some of her paintings as well as her book of pictures and would like to return them to you if you would send me your address, or drop in to McCormick Home on a Thursday to visit with me and her friends. Thank you for sharing her with us – such a remarkable person. Susan Richardson, Art Therapist, McCormick Home

Dear Betty, Mom, Carol, Pat, Lois and all my very dear Family,
Mike and I dearly wish we could be with you today. I was so lucky to have such a wonderful Grandma for so very long, she was someone who was always learning, always loving, so talented and so thoughtful – and she gave me my Mom and my Aunts and thus all my Uncles and dear cousins too! She lives on in all of us.
Lots and lots of love from Vancouver. We are thinking of you.

Dear Pat, Ron & Family
I was saddened today to read of your Mom’s passing, Patricia. When I visited McCormick Home in December, I thought of saying hello, but was afraid it might be confusing for her as Mrs. Sholdice wouldn’t recall who I was, after so many years.
Just wanted you to know that you are remembered in my prayers and thoughts, at this difficult time.
In friendship ….

Sincere condolences to all the family during this time of grief. Velma certainly had a wonderful, long life surrounded by a loving family and she will be sorely missed. My Mom, Marion Featherstone, fell and broke her hip on January 9th, 2009 and died on January 13th, 2009, dates which ironically coincide with the dates mentioned in the obiturary for Velma. Marion and Velma were very close friends/cousins throughout their life and her passing is deeply felt. I will honour your wish and make a donation to the local Salvation Army in her memory. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
