Passed suddenly at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig on June 29, 2021 at the age of 87. Beloved partner of Helen Hartwick for 21 years. Cherished father of Janice Silver (Glenn) of Arva, Scott Westman (Brenda) of Sarnia, Marilyn Vande Borne (Peter) of Denfield, Caroline Gatecliff of Sarnia, and Sharon Filippi (Tim) of London. Adored grandfather of Robbie, Tyler, Jeff; Craig, Crystal, Nicholas; Scott, Shane; Troy; Karly, and Dominique and great-grandfather to 4. Brother of Grant Westman (Marie) of St. Thomas. Ralph will be fondly remembered by the Hartwick family. Predeceased by his grandson Wade Gatecliff, sister Barbara Morrow, and parents Clare and Edith (Langford) Westman.
Ralph grew up in Granton and attended St. Marys high school. He then moved to Sarnia and started his welding career. He was an accomplished welder in Sarnia and was a member of the pipefitters union local #663. In his free time Ralph loved playing cards and travelling with his best friend Helen. In 1998 he decided to settle back down in home in the Granton area.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, LUCAN (519-227-4211).
Donations to Villages United Church, Diabetes Canada, or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

Was saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of your father Janice, Scott, Marilyn, Caroline, Sharon and families, and your partner Helen. We cherish our memories of Uncle Ralph, including his love of “goats” while my dad supported GM products and the fun the two of them had because they looked alike. Your dad always said he was the good looking one while my dad countered with something to the effect that he was happy he got the brains. Cherish the memories,
So sorry for your loss.

Mildred Gorth
Sorry to hear of Ralph’s death. I am Mildred Gorth, formerly Crouch, and I lived in the station in Granton with my dad, Fred Crouch, the railway agent, and my brother George. We both went to Granton School. I remember Ralph’s grandma and her Jersey cow, as well as his parents. Edith Jones Stewart was a teacher and she loved your sister Barbara and would bring her to school on occasion, even though she was just little. I didn’t know that Ralph was in Sarnia. I am 94 and live in my home at 1474 Hunt St., Sarnia, ON, N7S 3M7. 519-542-3018. I would like to hear from Grant or Scott.
Thinking of you all at this time,
Mildred Gorth
