After a brief and private battle with cancer, Murray passed away peacefully at his home with Lori, and Matt on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 71. Loving husband and perfect partner of Lori (Gill) Wickham for 41 years. Proud father and best friend of his son, Matt. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Wilf Sr. and Keitha Wickham, his brother and golf buddy, Wilf Wickham, and big brother George Wickham. Quoted by his nephew, Nate Gill as “the best man I have ever known”.
Murray was an avid golfer and so enjoyed his forays with his golf buddies. He was blessed to enjoy many international travels since his retirement. Murray was kind, quietly generous, even tempered and patient to a fault.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM, where Murray’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 11 AM. Cremation to follow with a private family interment Granton Cemetery at a later date.
Murray was passionate about those who struggled with food insecurity. Anything done with him in your heart to alleviate this in your community would be a blessing.
The family wishes to thank the Care Partners Palliative team, especially Joanne and Andrea for their dedication, care, and sincere compassion.

Murray is the epitome of the term gentleman as in gentle man. Always there to listen, help and laugh, especially with his friend my deceased Father. May they be laughing and chatting together now.

I was sad to hear of Murray’s recent passing, but I am so glad that we had a chance to catch up last year at a Sing-Out event. During our times together in Sing-Out, he was my buddy and like a brother to me and stood beside me during some pretty rough times.
Sending Lori and Matt much love and support during these times.

Murray, aka Ollie, was a friend to many! I count myself ‘most blessed’ to be able to count him a close friend for over 50 years. We met as teenagers in 1970, caught up in the movement of ‘Up With People’ , which led to the creation of Sing Out London. That youthful zeal carried us into adulthood and I’m grateful we intentionally kept our friendship alive over the past 5 decades. I was honoured to stand up in your wedding party and wear our ‘bunny outfit’s’ at the reception. You have left us far too soon, but I ‘trust God still, that we will see each other again. Godspeed my dear friend.

With profound sadness I extend my condolences to Lori and Matt – thank you for sharing your husband and father with me on several occasions – he was a gentleman with a twinkle in his eye and I am so grateful to have had the chance to line dance with him…joke with him…enjoy cagneys with him and have his famous breakfast McMuffin! Our rum cruise and beach laughs will forever be fond memories …you are a special guy my friend …I will miss you but will meet again ❤️
